DEPUTY Prime Minister and Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwan this morning (August 29, 2018) said police are still investigating a 19-year-old British teenager’s claim that she was drugged and raped on Koh Toa’s Sai Ri beach on June 26 this year and for this reason have not yet sent him a report, INN News reported.
He added that he has ordered Pol Maj-Gen Surachet Hakphan, deputy chief of Tourist Police, to be a director in the investigation, but as yet no new evidence has been found.
However Gen Prawit also said that if this rape claim is not true then penalty would have to be meted out.
The British teenager said that the next day, June 27, 2018, she went to file a complaint at Koh Phangan island police station, but they did not register anything about the rape only that she lost an iPhone 7 mobile phone, 3,000 baht and 4 debit cards.
Gen Prawit also mentioned that 3 police investigators from Mueang Satun police station, in southern Satun province, who were found aboard a Malaysian fishing boat and were charged with robbing the boat, had been released and will likely return to Thailand today.
He added that they have been sacked and face disciplinary and criminal actions because they were making arrests in Malaysian waters.
As to whether they had gained any benefits is still be investigated.
