Gen Prawit clueless as to whether Yingluck is in UK

DEPUTY Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan said this morning (Sept. 29) no one has informed him that fugitive former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra has left Dubai for UK but if it is true she will be followed there as Interpol has already been contacted, INN News said.

General Prawit, who is also defense minister, said the Foreign Ministry has not sent an additional report on the whereabouts of Ms Yingluck who fled overseas over the rice-pledging case.

He added that if she is really in UK as reported by foreign media she would be followed there because Interpol has already been informed.

However right now the government does not know what her status in going to UK is and whether or not she is seeking political asylum with this having to be verified first.

Nevertheless Dubai has said very clearly that they will not allow Ms Yingluck to be politically active from their country.

Gen Prawit also said the appointment of Chatchai Sitthipan, who was transport minister in the Yingluck government, to the National Strategic Committee on Competitiveness is a normal step as all sides may join in.
