Gen. Prawit has sore throat, won’t comment on apology

DEPUTY Prime Minister and Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwan refused to comment on Education Minister Thirakiat Charoensetthasilp’s apology to him after lashing him over his luxury “borrowed” watches, telling reporters that he had a sore throat, INN News reported today (Feb. 14).

Reporters again got an opportunity to talk to him after he presided over a meeting of the 5th committee on driving and reforming the management of civil servants, and this time asked him whether he wanted to say anything today which is  Valentine’s Day, but General Prawit again briefly said, “bad throat, love each other a lot.”

Thirakiat made the controversial remarks during a recent interview with BBC Thailand while in London, In the interview he mentioned the luxury watches, but stopped short of mentioning the deputy prime minister’s name, Themalaysianinsight.com reported.

“On the watches, if it had been me who was exposed, I would have quit after the first watch,” he was quoted as saying in the interview, which also provided an audio clip of the remarks.
