DEPUTY Prime Minister and Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwan and his delegation will be paying an official visit to US during April 21-27, 2018, INN News reported today (April 19).
Lt-Gen Kongcheep Tantrawanich, the Defense Ministry’s spokesman, said this official visit is being made at the invitation of the US Department of Defense, and Gen Prawit will be holding talks with US Secretary of Defense Gen James Mathis on strengthening relations and military cooperation between the 2 countries.
He will also be holding talks with Claire M. Grady, US Under Secretary of the Department of Homeland, on building up cooperation in other dimensions of security.
It is after a long gap that a Thai Defense Minister is making this type of formal visit to US and the visit will confirm strong relations and strategic partnership between the 2 countries.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha met US President Donald Trump at the White House during his official visit there last October with this marking an upgrade in ties between the 2 traditional allies.
