Police successfully seize 1.3 tons of crystal meth, 17 million yaba pills, and 2 kilograms of ketamine. Police Lieutenant General Prachuap Wongsuk along with related officials reported the arrest of a large drug bust on 12 May 2023. This is following a policy to eliminate criminal activities before the big election. The goal is to destroy small and big drug groups across the country. NSB Police have arrested 24 suspects from 8 drug groups along with the evidence. The first case took place on 19 April 2023 just before midnight. Police arrested 2 suspects named Kriangkrai and Asapa in Chiang Mai Province. The pair had with them 8.7 Million Yaba pills.
The second case is on 25 April 2023 when police arrested 4 suspects named Charin, Ketpikun, Samudin, and Abdullah. The suspects were arrested along with evidence including 251 kilograms of crystal meth. Their vehicle was searched at a traffic stop in Bang Pa-in Ayutthaya Province. The group often moves drugs into Central Thailand from the Northern part. The vehicle they use replicates a private shipping company vehicle. More drugs were found inside one of the suspect’s rented rooms. The third case was on 1 May 2023 with 2 suspects arrested named Kitti and Seksan. The pair had with them 2 million Yaba pills at a gas station in Chiang Mai Province.
The suspects move drugs from Chiang Mai to other provinces. The vehicle they were driving looked suspicious and seemed to have a heavy load. They made often stops and police searched the vehicle as they parked at the gas station. The fourth case took place on 6 May 2023 with one suspect named Sakarat. The suspect had with him 450 Kilograms of crystal meth. The fifth case took place on 8 May 2023 with 2 suspects named Adul and Thanakit. They were arrested inside a home in Pathumthani Province. The pair had shipped 1.6 million Yaba pills and 2 kilograms of ketamine in the mail. There are 3 more cases in the big drug bust.
