Giraffe still missing in Prachinburi Province while on the way to a new zoo in Prachinburi Province from Suvarnabhumi Airport. 2 giraffes escaped their original road trip at 17.30 on 28 January 2020. The local rescue team in Chachoengsao was notified by locals of 2 giraffes running by road no.304 Chachoengsao-Phanom Sarakham at the Bangkla intersection. The police were notified and the rescue team went to the area. There were 2 kilometers of traffic from the giraffes having their adventure in Thailand.  Officials tried to control the giraffes so they didn’t run out too far. One of the giraffes were scared of the cars and ran deeper into a forest by the road. While the smaller 4-meter giraffe stayed calm and was finally captured at 19.00. The officials used a tranquilizer gun and the first giraffe went into a deep sleep.

Villagers in the area heard of the 2 giraffes forming a large crowd around the tranquilized giraffe to take selfies as proof of the moment that the giraffes gained freedom, even if it was for a brief moment. The driver of the 6-wheeler truck carrying the giraffes stated the giraffes belonged to Safari World and they were being delivered to a new zoo in Prachinburi. When the car arrived at the intersection and the red light came on, he looked at the rearview mirror and saw one of the giraffes putting its head out of the wooden crate. Suddenly one of the giraffes jumped out of the crate onto the road and shortly after the other one followed.

The cars following the truck all parked and then traffic started to form. The second giraffe is still missing and officials are searching the area in hopes that the giraffe will be found safe and sound. Pracha Srisuk 77 year a villager in the area who was cutting some trees by the road stated that the giraffe shouldn’t go far because the land is surrounded by a small canal and villagers fish ponds. There is also a golf course with barbed wire fences all along the 304 road. Buffalos in the area often roam free in the area as they cannot go too far from the villages.
