The Immigration Police arrested a tourist in Suvarnabhumi Airport posing to be someone else. Police Colonel Chuengron Rimpadee from the Immigration Police reported that on New Year’s Eve (31 December 2019) at around 15.00 he received notification on a foreigner who was holding a passport that didn’t look like her. Officials caught the girl trying to use the passport to check-in with an international airline.
The girl was using a Vietnam passport and was holding a Poland Alien Residence Permit Cart under the name Miss Nguyen Thi Mai Ngov. The picture on the residence card was similar to the picture of the person on the Vietnam passport but officials still believed that something was off. The suspect was invited in for a talk and officials checked her through the Biometrics System. Turns out the system revealed she was using someone else’s passport to travel internationally.
The suspect admitted that her real name is Miss Dang Thi Thuy 20 years old from Vietnam. She traveled to Thailand on 30 December 2019 using her own passport to enter the country. On her way out of the country, it didn’t go as smoothly as when she arrived because this time the passport had been changed. She stayed only for 1 night and used the opportunity to travel with someone else’s passport during the holiday period because she knew that many were flying in and out of Thailand during this time of the year.
The next day on New Year’s Eve she attempted to travel through Suvarnabhumi Airport to Amsterdam, the Netherlands then to Germany where she planned to work. This time Dang used Nguyen’s passport to check into her flight. The Immigration Police sent her to the Suvarnabhumi Police Station for further prosecution. They will also be investigating to find further connections to other persons related to the crime.
