A gold robber has been arrested and admitted he followed a movie plot to change vehicles 6 times. He used a motorbike to escape from the store then jumped into 5 different taxis. He sold the gold in Sa Kaeo Province and went to hide from police in Ubon Ratchathani Province. Despite his good planning, the man has been arrested by police. Police Lieutenant General Samran Nuanma and related officials reported the arrest of Prapakorn 42 years old on 20 July 2022. The suspect was arrested at a room located in the main city of Ubon Ratchathani. Police found evidence including 6 gold bracelets and 1 small gold lock hidden inside a lotion bottle.
Police reported that the Klong Tan Police received notification of a gold robbery on 9 July 2022. The man used a gun to rob the gold store located inside a mall in Bangkok. The investigation police went to inspect the store and collected security camera footage. In the footage the man held the gun wrapped in a white cloth to threaten the store employees. He managed to get away with 34 gold necklaces and more amounting to 45 baht of gold or about 675 grams. Police state no matter how many movies criminals watch, they will be found and arrested.
The gun is not real and is only a BB gun. He got the gold and escaped from the mall by motorbike. He then changed his clothes and went on 5 different taxis in an attempt to confuse the police. The investigation team collected evidence and discovered his name. An arrest warrant was issued and he was arrested. The suspect admitted he used to own a bar but it was closed down after he was selling alcohol during the Covid lockdown. His customers were also arrested and since then there has been no income. The motorbike was stolen specifically to commit the crime.
