THE Government House was not spared the flooding which hit many areas of Bangkok after heavy rain late this morning while a big tree also crashed on two cars at Samsen railway station, Matichon newspaper said today (May 30).
Reporters at Government House said after Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha opened a Cabinet meeting torrential rain lashed the compound triggering floods because water could not drain into Klong Phadung Krung Kasem fast enough.
Journalists and officials had difficulty getting around and the area in front of the staircase linking Thai Khu Fa and Santimaitree buildings which is where the Prime Minister usually talks to the Press was also flooded.
However the situation was back to normal late this afternoon.
Meanwhile a large tree toppled onto two cars at Samsen railway station on Thoet Damri Road in Phayathai district damaging the vehicles but did not cause any injuries because the car owners had parked their vehicles there to go out to lunch.
Officials are currently clearing the tree and facilitating traffic flow.
This is the third tree to have toppled in Bangkok this month with the first one killing a woman in Chitlom area.
