Khon Kaen Deputy Governor Suthep Maneechote (October 5, 2019) unveiled a large awe-inspiring air filter named “Green Giant” to promote public awareness of air pollution in the northeastern province, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported.
The hybrid solar-cell filter can capture PM2.5 particles in households, buildings and open spaces, said Mr. Kraipichit Muanwong, a professor and engineer who created the “Green Giant.”
At a meeting with the deputy governor, participants also called for stringent measures to stop farmers from burning sugarcane stalks and garbage in open spaces.
PM2.5 readings are often included in air quality reports. PM2.5 particles are so small that they can only be detected with an electron microscope.
