Hollow fossilized log causes a stir

A HOLLOW fossilized log measuring nearly one meter in diameter was found by a villager in a deep forest in the northern Thai province of Phrae today (Dec. 21), Chiang Mai News reported.

The discovery drew a large number of curious on-lookers, many of them lottery buyers who quickly rubbed the inner surface of the log for lucky numbers.

The log is near a waterfall, and municipal officials plan to develop the area into a tourist attraction.

“Visitors may also explore several caves in the verdant forest and enjoy the fresh clean air,” said village headman Prasit Nookham.
