A 59-year-old naked Italian man bled to death in his room at a Phuket resort yesterday after apparently slashing his wrists and neck, Thai News Agency said today (August 2).
Police and a doctor who went to check the body of Mr Casolino Salvatore, 59, within the bathroom of his room at a resort in Phuket’s Kathu district found him naked with his face bent forward and a big wound on the right side of his neck and both wrists. Beneath his right hand was a fruit knife and a shaving knife was fallen nearby.
Police believe the Italian tourist committed suicide after being stressed out with life’s problems. They added that there was no evidence of fighting nor were his belongings searched.
A cleaning staffer with whom he was close told the police that the dead Italian man had checked on April 6 this year with no checkout date given and was stressed out as he often sat looking very sad.
On the morning of July 31 he had called her to go and buy a prepaid phone card for him and that was the last time she talked to him because yesterday she let herself into his room with a spare key after he did not open the door and found him dead in the bathroom.
