MEMBERS of the Karen National Union (KNU) in Tavoy, opposite the Thai province of Kanchanaburi, organized a religious ceremony this morning (Oct. 26) to pay tribute to His Majesty the late Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported.
The governor of Tavoy praised His Majesty the late Thai King for his kindness and sympathy for the Karen people, who in the past sought sanctuary in Thailand.
Tavoy is located about 15 kilometers from the Thai-Myanmar border, where there is a permanent border pass that facilitates two-way trade and tourism.
