Macgyver Gang arrested with 60kgs of Crystal Meth.

Police Lieutenant General Visanu Prasatthongosot from the Royal Thai Police reported several arrests in big recent drug cases including the arrest of the Macgyver gang nicknamed as superhumans with diamond brains amongst Thai Netizens and the arrest of a marijuana smuggling gang with an enormous collection of evidence including the seize of over 1,000 kilograms of marijuana. The Macgyver gang distributes its products mainly through online social media platforms.

Sutthipong and 7 other members of the gang were arrested on 4 December 2019. The group was moving crystal meth from Mae Sai District in Chiang Rai Province to other provinces in Thailand. Sutthipong and 1 other suspect went to purchase a suitcase from a shopping mall in Chiang Rai. Together with 3 other members, they drove rented cars into the main city in Chiang Rai following each other along the way. The group avoided main roads to hide from police checkpoints. They parked at a house but used the cars to block off the entrances.

The police saw this and thought it was suspicious so they searched the house. Sutthipong and the members tried to escape from the house but the police have already surrounded the area and they were all arrested. Inside was evidence including 60 kilograms of crystal meth placed in a suitcase. The first arrest of members in the Macgyver gang led to the arrest of 4 more suspects from the gang. Officials also found out that one of the suspects have connections to a big investor paying for the drug costs in Sutthipong’s gang. Officials also reported other drug-related cases with evidence including 128,000 Yaba pills, 25,000 Ecstacy pills, 1,350 kilograms of Marijuana, and 98,000 Erimin-5 pills. This large pile of evidence comes from 7 drug cases with 3 being cases related to marijuana.
