The northeastern Thai province of Maha Sarakham today (May 17, 2021) announced new measures to contain the spread of Covid-19.
Governor Kiattisak Trongsiri, who heads the committee to control communicable diseases, said the new measures will be effective from today until May 28, 2021.
The following places will be closed: cock-fighting arena, fish-fighting game, buffalo and cow market, pub, bar, karaoke, game room, internet shop, cinema, water park, entertainment park, swimming pool, fitness center, boxing ring, beauty clinic, spa, health massage center, and buffalo and cow market.
Religious rites, marriage celebration, Buddhist ordination, parties, or group entertainment are not allowed. Convenient stores are allowed to open from 04.00 a.m. to 23.00 p.m.
Local residents who have travelled from Bangkok, Chon Buri, Chiang Mai, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani and Samut Prakan must report themselves to local public health officers for check-ups.
Those who have been released from hospital must stay home for 14 days.
As of May 16, 2021, there were a total of 280 patients and 215 have been sent home. Two patients died.
