A THRILLING new shopping experience is in the offing when Bangkok’s swanky shopping mall Siam Discovery unveils its new look, called “The Exploratorium”, on May 28, 2016.
Siam Piwat Company, which owns and operates three other globally-famous stores including Siam Center, Siam Paragon and Paradise Park, has invested 4 billion baht in this turnaround.
Charnchai Cherdchuwong-thanakorn, the company’s senior executive vice president for retail business,said yesterday that Siam Discovery is being transformed into Thailand’s first hybrid retail center under the concept “let’s play and have fun together.” The aim is for visitors to have fun by trying out new products, testing original ideas and socializing in a novel way which will inspire new thoughts and ensure rewarding gains for all and not just oneself and one’s friends.
Each of the eight floors that together have a total of 40,000 square meters of space has a different name in keeping with the products on sale and its image. The ground floor is called Her Lab, mezzanine His Lab while the first to fourth floors are called Street Lab, Digital Lab, Creative Lab and Play Lab respectively.
Most of the fifth and six floors will be a Virgin Active Fitness area with the rest devoted to a variety of shops.
