Minister keeps mum on changing BTS operator

WITH BTS Skytrain system again being disrupted at 9 a.m. this morning (June 27. 2018), Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith came out to say that the operator has asked for time till Friday June 29 to sort out current problems but the signaling system might have be changed, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported.

BTS tweeted at 9 a.m. that the skytrain system had again run into problems and there would be a 30-minute delay, with passengers urged to allow for extra commuting time.

Reporters at Government House had asked Akhom as he was going in for a Cabinet meeting how the BTS problem is being solved because it has repeatedly crashed over the past few days. The minister replied that he had told the operator look into how they are going to permanently fix the system long term after the current problems have been tackled.

However Akhom refused to answer upon being questioned about mounting public criticism with some people urging that the BTS operator and concession holder be changed.
