Monk commits suicide after 10-year-long illness

A young Buddhist monk committed suicide at his home in the eastern Thai province of Prachin Buri yesterday (May 16, 2020) after a 10-year-long illness.

The monk’s aunt was watching a TV program in her room when she heard a noise. She thought the rice cooking machine might have an electrical short-circuit and unplugged it.

She then went into her nephew’s room and was shocked to find him lying in a pool of blood, with a shotgun by his left leg.

The 46-year-old aunt told police that her nephew has been bed-ridden for more than 10 years. He once drank a poisonous substance but a doctor managed to save him.
