Monkeys in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province have taken over the local town hall (old building), government officials have moved to another building for work. The monkeys have destroyed the building and officials have no choice but to move the office to somewhere safe. The old town hall building is located right next to the new town hall building about 100 meters away from the Khao Chong Krachok mountain. The monkeys first took over the famous attraction and started expanding their reach to the town hall. It is estimated that with the Covid-19 situation there are no tourists and the monkeys are searching for food.
The monkeys have torn apart the roof, electric wires, the ceiling, lightbulbs, and equipment in the offices. The officials working in the building couldn’t take dealing with the monkeys any more and had no choice but to find and rent another building to make it into a temporary office. Upon inspection, some parts of the ceramic roof tiles have been ripped off of the building. The same roof tiles were used to break the new town hall windows. Inside the building ceilings are gone and you can see the sky from inside.
If the rain comes, then the building inside will be wet along with the risk of electric wires hanging everywhere inside. The monkeys smashed the light bulbs inside the offices. The building is now locked with a sign stating the Prachuap Khiri Khan Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has been temporarily moved to Ruen Chaba Resort on Suk Jai road right across from Prachuap Khiri Khan Department of Livestock Development. The local National Anti-Corruption Commission has been moved to building no.19 near the local Honda showroom.
The monkeys have damaged vehicles parked in the area by both citizens and officials who need to visit the town hall. They mainly tear off the rear-view mirror and search the vehicles. Every evening the monkeys continue to enter the town hall and do some more searching for food.
