Move Forward Party request to review Pita’s renomination.

Rangsiman Rome from the Move Forward Party (MFP) reported to the media that he will continue to push the review of Pita’s renomination. The parliament has previously rejected the renomination of the MFP’s party leader, Pita Limjaroenrat. Rangsiman will file a motion for a parliamentary review of the resolution made on 19 July 2023. The MFP is preparing the proposal that will be presented in the meeting consisting of the Senate whip and representatives from the political parties on Friday, 18 August 2023.

Hopes for the meeting to conclude in a timeline to debate the motion in the next parliamentary meeting on 22 August 2023. Rangsiman plans for the debate to be short with the primary mission to display any errors that have taken place in the parliament. The party member has hope, but he knows the final decision may not be what they expect. The way the parliament works depends on many elements and extra precaution is taken when touching on Pita’s renomination. Pita did not secure a majority vote on 13 July 2023. Then on the 19th, the parliament voted again against the renomination of Pita.

The constitutional court dismissed the request for Pita to be renominated on 16 August 2023. Providing the reason that the petitioners were not the damaged parties. The court ruled that those who made the petitions must be those whose rights or liberties had been violated by such exercise of state authority. Pita stated that the parliament should settle this issue and not the court. Rangsiman also confirms the MFP will not support the Phue Thai Party’s candidate Srettha Thavisin as this nominee is not what the people wanted.
