THE National Council for Peace and Order’s spokesman today (Dec. 3) lashed out at politicians who have insinuated that the recent seizing of war weapons is intended to delay lifting of political activity ban, confirming that everything is following the road map, INN News reported.
Maj. Gen. Piyapong Klinpan, commander of the 11th Military Circle said in his capacity as a member of National Council for Peace and Order’s (NCPC’s) team of spokesmen, that politicians have attacked NCPC, saying the discovery of war weapons in Chachoengsao is intended to create a scenario and find an excuse to not end the ban on political activities, but this is not true.
He confirmed that the authorities are working fully to take care of peace and order and ensure greatest public safety.
He added that the seizing of the war weapons is an expansion of continuing investigation to prevent anything dangerous from happening, and also prevent those ill-intentioned from creating unrest which would cause problems for the public.
On requests to end political activity ban, Maj. Gen. Piyapong said NCPC has to consider various factors carefully, both in terms of the legal framework and the time-frame plus the situation in the country and other elements.
However he stressed that everything would definitely follow the law, duties and the announced road map.
