JS100 was notified of an accident at 8.37am on the 18th of this month at Ratchadapisek 28 Road in front of the Ratchadapisek MRT Station. Rescues from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation reported that a woman had been injured from falling down a manhole. The woman was an office worker who was walking to work in the morning with her friends.
As they were walking, the cement supporting the manhole fell down when the woman stepped on top of the manhole cover. She fell down 3 meters deep and was injured from the incident. Luckily, a good citizen helped retrieve the woman, helped wash the sewer water off, and delivered her to the Paolo Hospital nearby.
Her belongings were left inside the manhole. JS100 reported the accident to the Amarin Center and the Huai Khwang District Office. At 10.30 am the girl from the incident Jetnipit 23 years old reported to JS100 that she has been walking on this road for 2 days now with her friends. She fell down the manhole as the manhole cover broke down.
Jetnipit was covered in black sewage water. The food seller nearby and a Win motorbike drivers helped rushed in and helped pull her out. She used the manhole cover as a stepping stone to reach the good citizens. All of her belongings fell into the sewage water, the officers have found some but not all.
An Xray showed that Jetnipit injured her leg, arms, hands, and shoulders as they scraped against the pavement when she fell down. There are also bruises all over her body. The local food sellers around where the incident took place reported that the pavement has always been bad, they have notified the district but no one ever came to fix the problems.
Tamrongsak Takowit from the Huai Khwang District Office stated that he had gone to inspect the location of the incident. The district has placed a temporary manhole cover using a large metal plate. The manhole has been broken with weak cement, they discovered this the night before and they planned to fix it soon. In the meantime, the district placed a traffic cone on top of the manhole, then the incident took place in the morning.
The JS100 team discovered that the manhole had been repaired at 12.30 am.
