Officials to keep close eye on political gatherings.

The next parliamentary meeting in Thailand takes place on 27 July 2023. This is the day when the 3rd voting for the prime minister of Thailand will take place. Because of this, officials will be keeping a close eye on the people’s reactions. Police General Damrongsak Kittiprapas reported on 22 July 2023 that the Public Assembly Act is applicable to protestors and gatherings. This applies to those that gather in front of the parliament. Police will place heightened security to make sure protestors follow the law. Police must be notified of organized protests in advance.

This is because officials want to ensure the gatherings follow the law and keep peace within the parliament area. This is to also prepare for any ill-intentioned persons who want to stir people into negative actions. The same orders are given to police across the nation. A 63-year-old man who threw a bag of fish sauce at the Election Commission Office at the Government Complex on 19 July 2023 is facing legal action. Members of the parliament have requested heightened security following heavy backlash from the people.

The Pheu Thai Party has taken the lead to form the new future government of Thailand. Legal experts have voived that even though the leading position has changed from the Move Forward Party to Pheu Thai, we will still have a hard time securing votes for the upcoming parliament meeting. This is all solely because the MFP is still a part of the ally parties. Senators have made it very clear that they do not want a government that will make any changes to the Criminal Code Section 112, the lese majeste law.
