A COMMITTEE has been set up to verify whether a video clip shared online showing policemen at a checkpoint in Sa Kaeo province demanding money from Cambodian workers is true or not, INN News said today (Dec. 26).
Pol. Col. Krisana Pattanacharoen, a deputy spokesman of the National Police headquarters, said the police chief of Sa Kaeo province, bordering Cambodia, issued order number 344/2560 setting up this committee to investigate the allegation made in the shared video clip.
Pol. Col. Sakchai Phuangsombat, the deputy head of Sa Kaeo police, heads this committee which will delve into all aspects of the allegation, particularly whether the policemen seen in the clip are real or not, and if real which unit they belong to and when this incident occurred.
If policemen are found to have broken the law or violate regulations and discipline, then punishment will be decided right away and a report submitted in 7 days.
He added that National Police Chief Pol.Gen. Chakthip Chaijinda has ordered that this alleged incident be investigated, and is right now waiting for this committee to check all the facts.
