Paralyzed man killed in house fire at night

A 75-year-old paralyzed man died early this morning (Oct. 23) when his 100-year-old wooden house on stilts caught fire while he and his family were asleep, the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported.

The fire broke out around 3.40 am and other family members –  nine adults and three children  – managed to jump off the windows. They tried to rescue him but the house was already engulfed in flame.

“It was grave tragedy,” the old man’s son told the police investigators, who have yet to establish the cause of the fire.
