THE soft opening of a part of Bangkok Skyline walkway on July 11, 2016 has been very successful with over 50,000 of the capital’s pedestrians using it every day, the Platinum Group Plc (PLAT) said this week.
Many of them took photos of the walkway which they shared on social media leading to rapid increase in the number of users who appreciate the convenience, feel safer walking above ground and enjoy the view of Pratunam area early in the morning and at dusk.
This project is a joint venture between Platinum and Gaysorn groups with the soft launched first phase stretching from the second floor of Platinum Fashion Mall to Novotel Bangkok Platinum Hotel and then crossing San Saeb canal and ending at The Market on Ratchadamri Road. The latter is currently being built and will have 170,000 square meters of space once completed at the end of 2018.
Total investment in the first phase was 262 million baht with the length being 300 meters and walkway’s width 5.8 meters.
In the second phase, which will adjoin the first one, the walkway continues from The Market to Big C Supercenter then onto Gaysorn building, Amarin Plaza and finally linking up with Chidlom BTS station. Total investment is 37.5 million baht with the length being 180 meters and the width three meters. This is expected to be opened at the end of this year.
Once fully completed this walkway will connect Ratchaprasong and Pratunam areas which are key shopping and tourist centers of Bangkok.
