Pattani Governor Kraisorn Wisitwong today (March 28, 2020) announced a total shutdown of the southern Thai province to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Local residents are barred from traveling to neighboring provinces, but people in charge of medical care, transporting medical equipment and necessities are allowed to do so on a case-by-case basis, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported.
Local residents who violate the governor’s orders face a one-year jail term and/or a fine of 100,000 baht.
