TORRENTIAL all night rain led to heavy flooding in Phuket with people chaotically fleeing with their belongings after strong floodwater gushed into their houses, Thai News Agency reported this afternoon (Oct 2, 2018).
The floodwater in Kamala and Kathu areas was 30 to 50 centimeters high and flowing so fast and strongly that people chaotically fled their homes with whatever belongings they could carry.
Many roads were flooded with small cars unable to pass. A landslide completely cut off Patong-Kamala road, necessitating a long detour via Thepkasatri road, then pass the Heroines Monument and on to Thalang district.
Floodwater has still to be drained out from several roads including Phra Phuket Kaew and Na Haad Karong. Vehicles are also moving slowly on roads leading in and out of Phuket.
