PRIME Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha today (Dec. 29) quashed speculation that a photograph he took with influential Sasomsab family members indicates he is cutting a deal with them, pointing out that someone asked to take this picture and he could not refuse, Thai News Agency reported.
Gen. Prayut, who is also head of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), was referring to a photo of himself and politicians of the Sasomsab family which Watana Muangsuk, a key member of Pheu Thai party, shared on his personal Facebook page.
The Prime Minister said someone had suggested that he try out a particular award-winning golf course, so he did so, and only later found out it belonged to Sasomsab family.
Gen. Prayut said he usually relaxes on Sundays by playing golf and on that occasion ran into the Sasomsab family members and when they asked to take a photo with him, he could not refuse.
He added that this is similar to what happened during his recent trip to Sukhothai province, local politicians found out he was visiting so came to meet and talk to him.
He added that he could not very well refuse to meet them and no deal or special discussion on politics took place.
