PRIME Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha admitted today (Jan.4) that he has never clearly stated whether he would become an outsider premier with the reason being that it would be binding and it is uncertain what the future will bring, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported.
However Prime Minister Prayut, who is also the head of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), said the Constitution does say that if political parties are unable to choose a prime minister within the Parliament then the way is open to suggest an outsider to take this position.
This provision actually halts coup d’état from now on because an outsider prime minister would be chosen within the Parliament, he said, but adding that no one has suggested that he become the outsider premier.
Gen. Prayut also said that over the past 3 years, since becoming the head of National Peace and Order Maintaining Council, the original name of NCPO, and then prime minister, what he has lost is privacy, having not taken a holiday, gone shopping or eat in a restaurant.
However he sees his doctor every 3 months and now sleeps around 4 to 5 hours every night but initially he could not get deep sleep because he is always thinking a lot.
