PRIME Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha denied the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) let former premier Yingluck Shinawatra escape pointing out that he has ordered that she be quickly found, INN News said today (August 28).
General Prayut touched upon news spreading around that NCPO let Ms Yinngluck flee overseas saying who would let her go and how could this be done.
He also urged the media to not pay attention to this issue.
Gen. Prayut added that he had ordered security agencies to find out how she could have escaped but as she had not entered the justice procedure yet it was difficult to follow her everywhere.
In the past officers who followed her had been criticized for infringing on her personal rights.
Premier Prayut said officials have to pore over what happened so that no one else escapes because there are still many more cases in the courts.
While underscoring that he has ordered that Ms Yingluck be tracked down, the prime minister urged the public to give the officials and the Foreign Ministry time to work because there are many ways of escaping.
Regarding the cancellation of her Thai passport, the Prime Minister said this has to follow the correct legal procedure as to what level it could be done.
Regarding the sharing of a photo of himself with Ms Yingluck, Gen. Prayut said when he was the army chief he had to accompany her but he also accompanied all other former prime ministers.
