PM Prayut keeps mum on election being postponed

PRIME Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha today (Jan. 22) refused to answer whether a general election will be held this year, but did say the National Council for Peace and Order has not ordered the National Legislative Assembly to delay enforcement of organic laws related to senators and MPs, INN News reported.

After presiding over a ceremony to open a seminar attended by senior executives on high level of integration to reach the Thailand 4.0 economic goal with there being a special talk on “One Country One Team,” Prime Minister Prayut was asked by reporters whether a general election will be held in 2018, but he refused to answer.

However, reporters persisted and asked him whether the National Council for Peace and Order, which he heads, has ordered the National Legislative Assembly to vote for delaying the announcement of organic laws concerning senators and MPs by 90 days after publication in the National Gazette, Prime Minister Prayut said no such order has been given.
