PM Prayut meeting Sasomsap family creates a stir

POLITICAL speculation is heightened today (Dec. 30) after a photo of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha meeting members of the Sasomsap family in Nakhon Pathom Province has been shared on social media, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported.

Sasomsap family members have won all parliamentary seats in the province during the past 20 years. They were formerly allied to the Puea Thai Party of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

PM Prayut brushed aside a reporter’s question about the meeting, which he said took place “a long time ago.”

Matichon, however, noted that Prayut had met members of three other political parties during the past few months.
