Police chief not setting up new Yingluck team

DESPITE rumblings of discontent National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Chakthip Chaijinda said today (Sept.26) that there is no need to set up another team to track down former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra, INN News reported.

Pol. Gen. Chakthip said he has assigned Deputy National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Srivara Rangsibhramanakul to handle this case and he has legal knowledge on top of having a lot of experience and for that reason there is no need to set up a new team to help with this work.

Pol. Gen. Srivara would liaise with the security agencies but right now it is not known where Ms Yingluck is.

Regarding the three police officers who might be linked to Ms Yingluck’s escape, Pol. Gen. Chakthip said a committee is investigating them and once they reach a conclusion a report would be sent to him and no one need worry about this probe because the public can check the police work.

Meanwhile Metropolitan  Police Chief Pol.Lt.Gen. Sanit Mahathavorn said he has checked the security and the traffic flow plan for the area around the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions which will be handing down its verdict in the rice-pledging case against Ms Yingluck tomorrow (Sept. 27) and his officers are ready for any eventuality.

His initial strategy is the same as the one used for the August 25 hearing and while the number of officers is being reduced they are all proficient.
