METROPOLITAN police confirmed today (August 26) that information gathered shows that former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra is not within her Bangkok house in Soi Yothin Pattana 3, INN News said.
Pol Maj-Gen Nanthachart Supamongkol, head of Metropolitan Police Bureau’s fourth division, said his team is right now tracing and checking all her residences in Bangkok and in the provinces after the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Political Office Holders issued an arrest warrant when she did not show up to hear the verdict in the rice-pledging case yesterday morning.
However to enter her Bangkok house in Soi Yothin Pattana 3 police would have to gather evidence and then ask the court for a search warrant.
Nevertheless Pol Maj-Gen Nanthachart said no sources have said that she is still within this house and the servants there also do not know where she is.
He added that police is going to proceed very carefully and stay close to all the legal steps in this case as ordered by Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan.
However lots of reporters continue to stay put in front of Ms Yingluck’s Bangkok residence today despite unconfirmed reports that she has already fled overseas.
Reporters there say it is very quiet outside her house with no cars or individuals going through any of the gates which are heavily locked.
Normal security measures are in place with Lad Phrao police stationed there making sure everything is in order. Reporters noticed plain clothes policemen coming in from time to time.
However as of this morning no arrest warrant had been pasted in front of the house with police posted there saying they had not been told to do so.
