PRIME Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has reached Washington DC and will be holding talks with US President Donald Trump today (Oct. 2), Thai News Agency said.
General Prayut Chan-o-cha and his wife Mrs Naraporn together with a delegation safely reached Washington Dulles International Airport at 10.40 am US time or 9.40 pm in Thailand with Thai Ambassador to US Pisan Manawapat and senior officials from the US Diplomatic Missions Department being on hand to receive him.
Maj. Gen. Veerachon Sukhonthapatipark, deputy spokesman of the Prime Minsiter’s Office, said accompanying the Thai Prime Minster on this trip are 25 Thai businessmen from five sector which are agriculture, food and food processing, finance and banking, property, petrochemical and auto parts .
The Prime Minister together with Deputy Premier Somkid Jatusripithak, Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, Interior Minister Anupong Paochinda, Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn and Deputy Defense Minister Udomdej Sitabutr first held talks with a working group and Thai investors and businessmen in US.
Later the Thai Prime Minister will be holding talks with US President Trump with this being divided into two parts with the first being a one-on-one meeting between the leaders of the two countries after which the full delegation joins in. Discussions will cover security, economy, trade, investment, strategic cooperation and boosting Thai-US alliances.
This evening Prime Minister Prayut will take Thai businessmen to meet US businessmen at an evening party which the US Chamber of Commerce and the ASEAN-US Business Council is hosting. Talks to cover all aspects and dimensions in pushing the value of trade and investment between the two countries higher.
