MINISTER of Tourism and and Sports Weerasak Kowsurat today (Oct 2, 2018) said he is finding a way to resolve the problem of visitors being asked to pay an extra charge for obtaining visa on arrival, Thai News Agency reported.
The minister said he is holding talks with agencies involved after foreign media reported that visitors were asked to pay extra to get their visa on arrival stamp at a particular channel.
The system had to be overhauled to bring it in line with the international practice, he added.
Regarding a Chinese tourist being slapped by a Thai guard at Don Mueang airport recently, Mr Weersak said the airport management had already punished this particular guard and his supervisor, and information about this case had already been sent to China.
He added that both cases had to be resolved in different ways and right now a review of facts is being undertaken to find out the truth.
