Proof that taxi drivers at the airport are overcharging tourists.

Tourists and even locals have shared their experience online in the past on taxi drivers that are overcharging passengers and other schemes used to get your money. Some of the schemes used include lying to tourists that taxis from the airport are charged upon agreement and the meter is not allowed or taking an extra long route to confuse the passenger and cases where the taxi driver blatantly demands more money on arrival at the destination.

An online Twitter user has come out and posted a picture of a sign that lists the prices for the taxi depending on where the destination is. The starting price for destinations in Bangkok begins at 1,500 THB, where the truth is, even if you take a ride from one side of the city to another, it likely won’t exceed 500 THB according to the taxi meter.

Tourists and locals are sick and tired of facing the same issues with taxis beginning from not accepting the passenger and driving away to lying about certain attractions being closed to lure tourists into using their service at an extremely overpriced rate. Daily taxi users in main tourist areas face the same issue every day, even worse, the taxis and Win motorbike drivers will often challenge you or another driver in a fight if you even attempt to call a ride through Grab and other applications claiming that they “own” the area.

A Twitter account @StickboyBangkok shared the price sign displaying how much a taxi at Don Mueang International Airport is charging tourists just to travel into Bangkok. From DMK to Central Bangkok begins at 1,500 THB, DMK to the outskirts of Bangkok such as Suvarnabhumi Airport starts at 1,800 THB, DMK to Pattaya City in Chonburi Province begins at 2,400 THB, and DMK to Hua-Hin in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province begins at 3,800 THB.

A Thai Twitter account @jwesty21 shared the post and tweeted. “Don’t cheat foreigners, it’s a shame. From Don Muang Airport to other destinations in Bangkok will never cost more than 1,000THB. Even traveling from the outskirts of Bangkok to Don Muang costs less than 500 THB for 40+ Kilometers traveled.”.  @jwesty21 perfectly represents the locals’ opinions, Thai’s are also ashamed of how taxi drivers try to cheat tourists that visit Thailand.
