FRIGHTENED residents of a condominium at Rangsit city in adjacent Pathum Thani province were greatly relieved after municipality officials caught a baby crocodile prowling around the lawn, the Thai-language Matichon newspaper reported today (March 21).
The 96-centimeter-long freshwater croc was caught hiding beneath some plants and was brought the municipality office, after which the fisheries office in Klong Luang district was contacted to take it away.
Suphachok Tharasuk, a fisheries official at the Klong Luang office, said he is taking the baby croc to rest at his office, and it is as yet uncertain what species or gender it is.
Nevertheless, it is clear that it is a pet and not a wild one. For this reason the owner may contact the office to take it back.
However, if no one comes forth, the baby crocodile will be sent to Freshwater Fisheries Research and Development Center in Nakhon Sawan province.
