RAIN-DRENCHED slippery roads led to many accidents this morning with one of them being a bus carrying a medical team overturning on Phaholyothin frontage road in Pathum Thani leaving 3 of them injured, Thai News Agency reported today (Nov. 20).
The bus was taking the medical team to check the health of workers at Nong Khae Industrial Estate in the driving rain and the driver lost control of the large vehicle at a point where there was another accident in front of it.
Meanwhile an ambulance from Pathum Thani which was on the way to take those injured in the medical bus to the hospital was itself hit by a pickup truck which had careened after losing its balance leading to one person being injured.
In Phitsanulok a tour bus flipped over at a bend and burst into flames leading to one passenger dying and 13 passengers being injured with the cause still being determined.
The Thai Meteorological Department said at 4 am this morning that tropical depression Kirogi has declined into a low-pressure cell covering the coast of Cambodia and upper Gulf of Thailand with this leading to more rain and likely isolated heavy downpour in the East and the South.
People were warned to be beware of possible flash floods and strong winds. Affected areas during November 20-21 are as follows:
– Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Trat, Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Ranong, Phangnga and Phuket.
Meanwhile a rather strong high-pressure system covers the Northeast of Thailand and the South China Sea and this will further extend to the North and the upper Central. Outbreaks of thundershowers are likely at the beginning of the period, followed by cool spells with the temperature decreasing by 2-4 degrees Celsius and strong winds.
