NEARLY 300 villagers were evacuated this morning (August 26, 2018) after a torrent of floodwater tore through two villages in Sangkhla Buri District of Kanchanaburi Province, the Thai-language daily Khao Sod reported.
All-night rain had forced officials to release water from Vajiralongkorn Dam near the two villages. The evacuation went smoothly with the help of soldiers from an Army camp.
Seventy houses were completely submerged, with rice fields and plantations now under water.
