School ends homework for students

In a landmark decision, Bavornnivet Temple School in Bangkok has announced that it will no longer assign homework for its students, the Thai-language daily Thai Rath reported today (Feb 19, 2020).

The decision is promptly welcomed by Dr. Amnart Witchayanuwat, secretary-general of the Elementary Education Committee (EEC), who said it will help lessen stress among the students.

In his opinion, it is better for teachers to assign work that enables students to analyse topics and present them in class.

“Assigning homework alone is not enough to help students think outside the box,” he added.
