School searches for teacher salary set at 5,000 THB per month.
A school announced that they are searching for a new teacher with a salary of 5,000 THB per month. That is less than 160 USD, for a whole month’s worth of work. The school later stated after receiving criticism from Thai netizens that it is a small school and the money used for the salary comes from donations. The opportunity was announced not long ago and there is already 1 applicant interested in the job. The school is located in Suphan Buri Province and the requirement for the job is that you must have at least a Bachelor’s degree or higher. You can have a degree related to fields of study including math, social studies, science, or the Thai language. You must have a teaching license and a teaching permit.
Narimon Kaewruang acting principle from Wat Wang Sam Phao Lom Temple School revealed on 26 January 2022 to the Khaosod News Team. She is shocked after the school’s post went viral. Right after the post was made on the school’s officials page it was shared all across social media. Netizens had a lot to say. The school has joined wit the local community and created an event where they received donations, this money will be used to pay the new teacher’s salary.
Narimon stated “We are trying to find more teachers to help teach and to support people in the community who live in the area. Such as those who live nearby, anyone interested in teaching. The school does not have a principle and we have only 4 teachers. We are looking for 1 more to help teach more students. So that students will not have to swap classes with each other. The money is raised from the community. We have hired teachers at this rate before. This is how we started, we are a small school that is trying to support local. There is currently 1 applicant who lives near the school”.
