Security guard enters monkhood after lottery jackpot

A THAI security guard who earned 30 million baht from government lotteries two years ago entered the monkhood today (June 10), Sanook.com reported.

Yongyut Kaewsuangjik’s rags to riches story made front-page headlines, but he chose to stay out of the limelight, devoting most of his time taking care of his family.

“I am so happy to enter the monkhood today to make merit for my parents, family and friends who have been kind to me all along,” said the newly ordained monk.

“I don’t know how long I will stay in the monkhood but I have nothing to worry about,” he said.

“I have done my best for my family.”

“If I had my wish,” he added, “I would stay in the monkhood forever.”
