Siam Square shops flooded amid heavy rain
DRIVING rain across Bangkok today (May 27) led to heavy sharing of flood photos on Thai social media with one person’s shots of Siam Square badly flooded attracting a lot of attention, Matichon newspaper said.
The images, taken RT@naphat_69 and published on FM91 Trafficpro page, show floodwater flowing into shops in Siam Square and beneath the BTS station this afternoon.
Meanwhile Bangkok Governor Pol Gen Asawin Kwanmuang inspected the flooding in Ngarmwongwarn area today amid continuous downpour as this is a zone where flooding recurs, Thai News Agency said.
The Bangkok Flood Prevention and Control Center said there is medium to heavy rain almost throughout Bangkok today and the amount of rainfall was heaviest in Chatuchak at 101 milimeters an hour.
This has led to many roads and areas being flooded including Siam Square, Rachathewi, Sri Ayutthaya, Phaholyothin, Pongpetch intersection, Ratchadapisek, Lardprao Bangkhen, Ratchawipha intersection and Chatuchak with it being difficult for small cars to go through.
