Special designs for four new stations

FOUR stations of the Metropolitan Rapid Transit (MRT) Chaleom Ratchamongkhon Line which is currently being built and will run from Hua Lamphong to Thapra when completed in 2019 will be decorated with unique designs illustrating the history of each area.

• Sanam Chai Station: This is close to the Emerald Buddha Temple and the Grand Palace which are top tourist attractions in Bangkok. That is why MRT has decided to make it stand out with the ticket platform’s design being inspired from an early Rattanakosin palace.
• Wat Mangkon Kamalawat Station: This is in Chinatown area and Wat Mangkon Kamalawat is the most famous Chinese temple in Thailand. This being so, this station will therefore be decorated in Sino-Portuguese architectural style.
• Wang Burapha station:  Wang Burapha means eastern palace and was built by King Rama VI with mixed-colonial architecture. This station will reflect this architectural style.
• Itsaraphap Station: Itsaraphap means freedom so the decoration of this station is inspired from a pigeon which is a universal symbol of peace and freedom.
