Speedboat crashes with yacht, 10 injured and 1 missing.

A speedboat crashed with a yacht near the Koh Kai in Phang Nga Province. 10 people have been injured in the incident with reports of 1 boat boy missing after he fell into the waters. Officials from the Royal Thai Navy (Third Naval Area Command) were notified on 18 December 2019 of the accident. Naval ship no.229 and officers were sent out to help right away.

During the time of the accident, two other boats nearby including a tourist boat and another speedboat witnessed the collision. Personals on both boats worked in rescuing the injured persons as they waited for the officials to arrive. Those in the two boats were able to help 10 people who were injured in the incident including, 8 passengers, a tour guide, and the speedboat captain. All 10 were delivered to the A2 Pier in Phuket and then to hospitals in the area. The remaining 32 speedboat passengers were delivered to the Ao Por Pier in Phuket. Most of them were not injured while some experienced minor injuries.

There are reports of 1 missing boat boy from the speedboat that fell into the waters and disappeared. The boat boy was working on the speedboat when the crash took place, he fell off the boat while passengers were in shock and trying to get to a safe spot. Officials are still searching for him. Uninjured tourists that were passengers on the speedboat have been delivered back to their hotels. The speedboat named Supidarn 35 came from the A2 pier in Phuket City while the Yacht came from the Ao Po Grand Marina Pier in Thalang District, Phuket Province.

 

The main cause of the crash has not been confirmed but the police and related officials are investigating to find the answer. The search will continue for the missing boat boy until he is found.
