The main reason is from the city’s draining system that cannot drain water enough water in time to keep the roads and the city dry. The flooding on the road caused a stop in the traffic due to cars not being able to past through. Many cars that decided to enter the water, or where on the road when the water started to rise were heavily affected and some ended up dying on the road.

The INN News team were notified from villagers in Muban Ake Mongkol in Banglamung district, Chonburi province at 3 pm of the same day that the water has entered into many homes located in the village. Because the water came in so fast, most furniture and electrical appliances in the homes could not be moved out to a safer location in time. Cars and motorbikes were also heavily damaged by the water that couldn’t drain in time.

When the news team arrived, they discovered that the water has already drained down quite a bit, but there were still wet marks and mud residue left on the walls and items that were in the first floor of the homes. Lan 50 years old is one of the villagers in the village, he reported that the village often floods if it rains for too long. This is because the village is located beneath the sea level, making the water naturally flow down from other areas into the village.

The villagers have built high walls around their homes to help shield the water out, but the summer storm rained much harder than usual, flooding many homes in the village. Lan stated that the rain came in extremely fast and was over 1 meter deep in his home. He was not able to move his belongings in time, including his car parked in the garage.

The village is located on private property, public officials from the district cannot come in to help villagers directly, villagers have to find their own solutions to protect the village from flooding again.
