A BOMB scare shook Phramongkutklao Hosptial this morning after a bag left unattended raised suspicions that another bomb might go off after Monday’s blast injured 25 people, Thai News Agency said today (May 24).
Col. Surasak Thanatsitham, MD, the hospital’s deputy director said a suspicious bag was found in Chalermphrakiat Building opposite Wongsuwan Room where Monday’s pipe bomb went off.
However Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) officers checked and found that the bag contained clothes and other necessities for a patient and the hospital management is now rushing to track down the owner.
Col. Surasak urged patients to check their belongings carefully as the hospital is in a shaky position right now.
Security is tight across the hospital with the belongings of those coming in checked in detail and 12 security cameras that were not working have been repaired while the one near Wongsuwan Room has been sent to the police.
Four bomb victims are still being treated in the hospital including a 92-year-old woman who is still in the ICU.
