T-shirt logo stickers trigger panic in Hua Hin

A YOUNG man who pasted stickers with a logo that seems to be designed from southern Yawi-language script at a famous Hua Hin shopping mall caused panic among the shoppers who thought they might be linked to terrorism, Thai News Agency said today (Sept. 23).

Pol Col Damrongsak Thongngarmtrakoon, deputy head of Prachuab Kriri Khan police, and Pol Col Sithichai Sisophacharoenrat, superintendent of Hua Hin, quickly brought Pongpipat, 29, who is a Hua Hin resident to the police station for questioning after these stickers were found pasted at 40 spots near the lift and the restrooms of the famous shopping center.

Pongpipat told police that he lived overseas for many years with his foreign stepfather and mother and upon returning here thought of producing and selling T-shirts under his own brand name. After designing this logo he pasted it in the shopping center.

Police initially have not filed any charges against Pongpipat but warned him not to do anything like this again because security is tight at this seaside town  after unrest last August.
